ProtectDefenders.eu is looking for a motivated and committed Canada Programme Consultant to join our Programmes and Partnerships team on a part-time basis.
ProtectDefenders.eu is seeking a part-time consultant (50%) to support the implementation of its Canada Resettlement Programme under the Government-Assisted Refugee (GAR) stream. This role will provide key operational and technical support in case management, partner coordination, and programme analysis. The position focuses on case management and application processing, direct engagement with Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) throughout the resettlement process, eligibility assessment, and database management. The Consultant will also contribute to programme analysis, reporting, and partner coordination, helping ensure that HRDs receive timely, accurate, and high-quality support throughout their resettlement journey.
We are looking for candidates with a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience in the human rights field, with demonstrated experience in refugee resettlement, international protection, or case management involving at-risk individuals. Experience working with international organisations, NGOs, or multilateral institutions such as UNHCR is strongly desirable, as is familiarity with Government-Assisted Refugee or similar complementary pathway programmes. Strong organisational skills, high attention to detail, sound judgement, and a commitment to confidentiality and secure information management are essential. Fluency in English is required; working knowledge of Arabic and/or French is highly desirable.
Start date: As soon as possible — Location: Remote / Flexible — Contract: Consultancy contract of up to 12 months (indicatively 50% engagement), implemented through monthly renewable agreements and invoicing. Monthly fee: 1,350 EUR.
