FIDDH – Secretariat of ProtectDefenders.eu’s Website Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit https://protectdefenders.eu (the “Site”). This website is provided by the Fondation Internationale pour les défenseurs des droits de l’homme – Secretariat of ProtectDefenders.eu, an international foundation legally registered in Belgium, and is hosted in The Netherlands. We take seriously the privacy of you as the user of the website and any information we collect from you.

This document sets out our Privacy Policy in relation to you and your personal data. The same principles also apply when we collect personal data from you through other channels (e-mail, paper forms, phone calls, etc.).

PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.” We collect Device Information using the following technologies:

“Cookies” are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. A cookie is a small text file that a site sends to be able to remember who you are. In principle, it contains the name of its Internet domain of origin, its lifetime and a value, usually a unique random number. On the ProtectDefenders.eu website, we use session cookies. These are temporary cookies that are stored in your computer’s memory and deleted when you close your browser or when you do not use the Internet for a certain amount of time. For example, these cookies can control automatic pop-up windows so that they do not open each time you visit a particular page: once you have viewed a page containing an automatic pop-up window, a cookie may be placed in your computer so that this window does not open next time. ProtectDefenders.eu does not use cookies to monitor you. .

“Log files” track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Order Information.

When you browse our website, information may be recorded, or read, in your terminal, subject to your choices.

We use Google Analytics to collect information about your use of the site. The information collected concerns:

  • The pages you visit and how much time you spend on those pages

  • The links clicked on the site during the visit
